I don’t know about you, but for me, writing can be sometimes fun and sometimes stressful. When I feel inspired, I can sit down and write for hours. However, when I’m hit with writer’s block, writing can become very challenging for me. When my mind is blank and I don’t know what to write, I am always tempted to use AI technology such as ChatGPT to do the writing for me, but that’s not how I want to be known as a writer. I don’t want to depend on ChatGPT, although, I must admit, I have used it to write some of my blog posts in the past. However, I don’t want to be reliant on AI-generated content. In this blog post, I give you 4 tips on how you can stop depending on AI technology to do your writing for you.
Get into the habit of writing on your own without AI assistance.
Remember when you were in school, your teacher used to give you writing assignments? This was a great way to help you practice and develop your writing skills. I think this is one of the ways you can stop using AI to do your writing. You need to practice, practice, practice. If you make writing a regular habit, in time it will get better, and it will get easier. So, get into the habit of writing. It’s a great way to exercise your brain.

Do your own research.
Using AI technology to do research can save a lot of time, but it is not always accurate or reliable. I would advise you to do your own research to ensure that the facts you include in your writing come from reliable sources. I doubt you would want to be penalized or banned from writing for a particular website or magazine because you did not fact-check your writing.
Write from personal experience.
Writing from your own experience helps you to connect with your readers and other writers. This is something that AI technology is unable to do. When I have used AI to write a short story, for example, the writing looks too polished to be written by a human. The story lacks emotion and insight. You can easily tell that the story was written by AI and not by a person. When you write from your personal experience, it helps the reader to identify with what you are saying in your writing. It makes your writing authentic.

Limit your use of AI technology in your writing.
When it comes to writing, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use AI technology at all, but it can be useful in some ways. For example, I use Grammarly to check for spelling and grammatical errors. I will accept Grammarly’s suggestions for rewriting sentences to make them sound better.
I’m not good at outlining, so I will use ChatGPT to create an outline of a nonfiction book for me. I will also use it to generate titles for blog posts too. However, I decided not to use AI to write my blog posts or books for me because I would rather do that myself. To me, putting myself as the writer of AI-generated content makes me feel like I cheated. You may feel differently. This is just my opinion, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use AI tools at all to do your writing. This is just a personal choice that works for me.
Final thoughts
From now on, I am determined to use my own words to write my articles, blog posts, and books. I can use ChatGPT to give me ideas of topics to write about, make corrections, or create an outline for me, but I want my writing to be in my own voice, not AI-generated content. My future blog posts and books will be written by me, so you may find that my content is not perfectly written, but at least you will know that it was written by a human and not a machine.
